Preserved Petals
Preserved petals are real petals that have been treated with a unique combination of natural ingredients to keep their fresh look and natural soft feel.
Unlike fresh rose petals preserved petals won’t wilt or die and will last for many months or years. They are available in a wide range of colours and complimentary colour mixes. They have the same weight as fresh petals and so work well as throwing confetti and are less likely to blow away as a petal path.
Preserved petals use natural colours to create the colour tones and care should be taken in wet conditions, on polished surfaces or on fabrics where the natural oils and colours might react. Store away from direct sunlight to prevent fading.
Freeze Dried Petals
During the freeze drying process the flower heads are frozen to –30 degrees. This removes most of the water but retains the cell structure, shape and colour of the petal.
Freeze dried petals have a subtlety of shading and the natural look of a fresh rose petal. The feel of the petal is slightly dry, but if you leave them in a steamy environment (like a bathroom) they will absorb some of the moisture and the petals will soften.
They are lighter than preserved petals. Freeze dried petals will retain their colour for about 4 months after which it gently fades.
They are colourfast and so are particularly suitable for scattering on tables and beds!
Dried Petals
Dried petals are air dried. This process reduces the petal size but retains the colour. Many dried petals have very small leaves but Perdita has sourced the finest quality rose and larkspur petals.
Dried petals are a great economical way of having natural biodegradable confetti.
